Syðra-Langholt is one of the biggest horseriding centres in Southern Iceland. We take special pleasure in showing visitors to Iceland the unique wilderness together with the horse. You'll get to know an Iceland you may not have seen before - the Iceland of 100 or 1000 years ago - endless meadows, rushing glacial streams, hidden valleys, dormant volcanoes, and high mountains.

Our farm is a starting point for cross country riding tours as well as short ones. There is a number of exciting riding tracks among magnificent landscapes in the vicinity of Syðra – Langholt.

Our horses are convenient for everyone. Kids, beginners and experienced riders are welcome to enjoy our comfortable reliable horses with nice gaits. We make sure you get a horse suitable to your experience. Of course we provide safety helmets and rainwear for the hole family. From one hour trips up to a few days tour, there is a number of nice opportunities for those with just a bit of time for horses and for those who wants to take a day-long ride to sharpen their riding skills. The shorter tours are ideal for those who only want a short taste of the quality of the Icelandic horse. Its possible to ride across the big river Stóra- Laxa, ride along the beautiful riverside or we can go on top of one of the highest mountains in the area and enjoy an amazing aerial view over the volcano Hekla, our farm and Skálholt. On the way we have a good opportunity to experience the gait tölt on the many good tölt paths. Where we usually go depends on wind, weather and the participants' riding experience.

The few days trips bring you very close to the Icelandic nature. You get the opportunity to travel as the Icelanders have done for hundreds of years. When farmers go riding in the summer to train the horses and to get them ready for the work of the roundups in the fall, they always drive a good sized herd of remounts along. You can ride with us and a big herd of free-running horses through the highlands. The free running horses make it possible for you to ride 2-3 different horses every day. Multi-day highland rides lead into spectacular areas. Volcanic activity has shaped the landscape you visit on our northern ride. Everything is possible. Ride with us through the highlands, to the giant waterfall Gullfoss with the Langjökull glacier in the background or up to Geysir.
